Mandy's Utah Human Race Fundraiser
511,000 Utahns, which equates to 1 in 6 individuals, are at risk of missing a meal today. Even more alarming is that 1 in 5 Utah kids are unsure where their next meal is coming from. I am participating in Utah Food Bank’s virtual Utah Human Race in November because I feel that no child should have to go to bed hungry in Utah, especially on Thanksgiving.
Some of you may or may not know a bit about my personal history. In 2009, I made the decision to move to Ogden without having a steady job lined up. Long story short, I ended up losing my apartment and having to live in a motel for a few months. During that time, getting food was very difficult while I was trying to figure out how to pay my other bills. The Utah Food Bank became a huge lifesaver during this time in helping me make sure I had meals on the day to day. Donating to the food bank has always been something near and dear to me.
You can help me in my efforts by donating to Utah Food Bank to help them continue their important work of Fighting Hunger Statewide. My personal goal is to raise $100, but anything really does help. Thank you for your support!
Founded in 1904, Utah Food Bank has operated under various names but has always remained true to their mission of Fighting Hunger Statewide. 511,000 Utahns are at risk of missing a meal today. Even more alarming is that 1 in 5 Utah kids are unsure where their next meal is coming from. Last year, they distributed 52.9 million pounds of food, the equivalent of 44.1 million meals, to people facing hunger across the state. Utah Food Bank can stretch each $1 donated into $8.03 worth of goods and services. To find out more about donating food, time or money, please visit http://www.utahfoodbank.org.
